JOYBeing and Life Energy: Leading from Authentic Presence
Hello IPSU-Lex readers,
This week the International Trademark Association (“INTA”) 2025 Roundtable was held in Istanbul, hosted by Moroğlu Arseven.
Moderated by Ece Berkman, the event featured an interactive seminar with Gila Ancel Şeritçioğlu on her new book. Working collectively through the themes of mindfulness, wellbeing and the joy of being, the session drew on “JOYBeing: Connecting With Your Essence and the Rhythm of Life to Thrive and Inspire”, written by Gila A. Şeritçioğlu and Ann Van Eron, and shared a close reading of it.
A Discussion on “Joy”
After everyone had debated their own definition of “joy”, Şeritçioğlu described it as “the state of being in contact with the energy of life — with its pain, its sorrow and its sweetness”, and from there the group turned to wellbeing and to the sense of feeling complete.
At the roundtable, happiness and joy were treated as two distinct concepts, and the discussion ranged from the psychology of parenthood to the hedonistic treadmill we are each exposed to as individuals. Through these interactive exercises, participants from a range of sectors and positions were guided by questions towards discovering their own gaps in wellness, or the qualities they recognised in themselves from whatever first came to mind.
Our thanks go to the Moroğlu Arseven team for their work and their hospitality, and to Gila A. Şeritçioğlu for such an illuminating session.
